- To constitute a leading institution that coordinates and administrates a consortium of information devoted to our educational community.

- To participate in the design of national policies of homogenization and standardization in the procedures for the process and transfer of contents and information records within the national systems and the information networks from other jurisdictions.

- To extend the reach of these policies in the public area in order to achieve access to knowledge with quality and equity, spreading the use of new nformation and communication technologies.

- To develop instances of virtual contents retrieval which enhance teachers growth opportunities when internet conexion appropriate and the preferential access to internet is made real from the school itself.

- The Library is a bridge between the past and the future and creates a real time stage that links them in one unique temporal dimension that allows different users, from different latitudes to have an access to knowledge and stored information in our cultural spaces.

- It is a bridge that connects the paper library with the electronic library, books from all the times with the resources published in the Web, the knowledge stored in all supports to be retrieved from all distances, along with the development of more self-sufficient competence in the reflexive use of these contents, yielding an added value in knowledge and new cognitive ways as well as self-learning.

- To go along the needs of our users will require a correct conservation of the materials, with adequate policies of conservation and restoration that include not only the valuable collections but also the preservation of electronic contents as a new challenge.

- Our Library, therefore, should grow maintaining the role and mission that defines it as so: storage and production of knowledge in documents to serve the community of users. However it will be immerse in a “dance of changes” that includes organizational and technological issues to keep on in the leadership of educative information management projects for the community promoting knowledge and quality information and assuring equity in its access.

- To transform and maintain the BNM ( Biblioteca Nacional de Maestros) as a centre for bibliographic reference providing an active and participative methodology for the teacher in its new role along a process of constant changes in the challenges that education poses today.

- To fix and apply norms that allow the circulation of materials and the supervision, custody and conservation of a reading and consulting service.

- To provide our Centro Nacional de Información Educativa within a national and international frame where to integrate both, library and information units.
|
- To classify, catalogue and spread the existence and movements of issues and volumes belonging to the Library.

- To increase the number of titles and volumes of materials according to the requirements of users.
|
- To promote, along with the Biblioteca Nacional, a National Information System, along with networks of popular public libraries as well as the university library networking and the school library system in order to build an integrated federal library policy.
